Romanian Roots
1949 - 1958
Gilda Balian and Haig Tacorian, co-founders of TACORI, are born in Romania during the Communist regime. Gilda is born to Harry Balian, a jeweler by trade, who was ordered by the Communist regime to turn over all currency and precious metals. When he was found making gold wedding rings for a family friend, he was arrested and imprisoned for one year.

The American Dream
1962 - 1972
In 1962, Gilda and her family emigrate to the United States and settle in California. Eight years later in 1970, Haig emigrates to California. After meeting in 1972, Haig and Gilda join her father to create B&T, a jewelry company specializing in vintage style designs.

Founding TACORI


TACORI : A New Era
1979
In 1973 Haig and Gilda are married. After 6 years of marriage, Gilda and Haig create their own company, TACORI, based in Downtown LA Jewelry district.

The TACORI Crescent is Born
1998
Haig Tacorian commissions a unique, new engagement ring design from fellow jeweler, Garo Kourounian. The design evolves, and together they create an iconic design – TACORI’s Signature Crescent silhouette.

The Legacy Continues
1997-1999
After years of watching their parents build the TACORI brand, Paul and Nadine, son and daughter of Haig and Gilda join the family business as Director of Marketing and Director of Production respectively. Later, in 2016 Paul and Nadine will step in as CEO and COO, with their father Haig as Chairman.

Handcrafted in California
2003
After being featured on the Bachelorette as the chosen brand for Trista and Ryan’s wedding bands, TACORI experiences a surge in demand. Growth requires a new, larger location, so TACORI moves from the Downtown Jewelry District to their own facility.
Today, TACORI designers, artisans and employees are housed entirely under one roof in 25,000+ sq ft Design Studios in Los Angeles.

A Brand in Demand
2006 - 2007
TACORI releases what would become another iconic design, the Dantela Collection. Grey’s Anatomy star, Ellen Pompeo is the first recipient of this new collection, featuring a 3ct emerald-cut diamond. A year later, TACORI is named the #2 most visible jewelry brand in America by Indesign Magazine.

2009 - 2018
Tacori releases its first silver and gold gemstone collection named "18K925" for the mixed metal approach. The brand continues to expand it's jewelry collections, lauching a bracelet in support of Shine Together, and it's first every design collaboration with Who What Wear to create the Love, Los Angeles collection.

2018
TACORI partners with Netflix as the official jewelry provider for the new series "Say I Do." TACORI helps eight deserving couples, who have had their wedding plans postponed, create the wedding of their dreams with personalized TACORI pieces to commemorate their special day.
